Mira Costa’s boys golf team defeated Santa Monica High School 203-214 on Monday at Rancho Park Golf Course, with the top Costa score coming from senior Aidan Oliver.
The match was the first opponent other than Culver City for Costa, and although it was close at the beginning, Costa was able to pull away with the victory thanks to a low score(37) from Oliver.
“We all made sure that we did the best we could do and came out with quality scores,” Oliver said. “We could definitely improve on our confidence as some of us get very down and end up coming out with a result lesser than expected.
The Mustangs are currently 3-0 overall. The team will play Santa Monica at Chester Washington Golf Course on Thursday to try and keep their unbeaten run alive.
“It is a very nice confidence boost that we have started off so well, especially since we have not played to our full potential recently,” Oliver said. “It is a great sign that we can really make something happen as league finals and CIF roll around.”
