Classrooms across Mira Costa hosted the second round of the annual Scholar Quiz competition on Thursday, which eventually led to 16 teams to compete in the third round on Friday.
In the Midwest division Teams Wong, Dumont, Dave and Marsh advanced. In the West, Lu, Trinh, Cochran and Goodwin took the next step. Further, in the East, Gordon, Lau, Packer and Blake advanced. Lastly, in the South, Buchta, Chase, Gist and Heintz advanced to the third round.
“Scholar Quiz is the definition of competition. It brings the smartest of students together for a friendly competition,” Junior Alec Goodwin said. “In order to pick a winning team you need speed, teamwork, and networking to get kids who know the most trivia. You need to be a walking encyclopedia.”
