The Mira Costa boys and girls swimming teams won and lost, respectively, against Peninsula at home on Thursday. Top performers included junior Andrew White and sophomore Kai Bathurst, as well as junior Mona Stone and sophomore Alex Crisera.
White competed in the 100 meter backstroke and placed first. He believed he performed well during his third meet of the season.
“I felt that I did well and performed at a top level,” White said. “I was proud of the team because even though we were sore, we still competed well.
Stone competed in the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyles placing third in both. According to Stone, she did not perform to her best ability.
“I did not perform as well as I would have liked,” Stone said. “Neither did the team, but we are going to prepare hard for the next match and are looking forward to it.”
Mira Costa’s boys team, now 3-2 overall and girls team at 2-3, will next face South Torrance on Tuesday at at home. According to junior Henry Anthony, the Mustangs are looking forward to the upcoming match.
“Coming off this decent performance, we are looking forward to the upcoming match because we know we are capable of even more,” Anthony said. “We are training hard in order to be at our peak for CIF.”
