The Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse team lost to Palos Verdes High School 17-11 on Wednesday at Waller Stadium. The team was lead by junior Jamie Averch, who helped Costa’s offensive push with two goals.
Other offensive contributors included senior Kelli Mark and junior Charlie Manley. The girls gave it their all the whole game and were up 8-4 at half time but eventually gave up the game in the final minutes with two last minute goals by P.V.
“We gave it our all the whole game and really wanted the win,” Averch said. “However PV was able to pull away with some last minute goals in the second half that we were unable to match.”
Costa, now 3-13 overall, will play against Redondo Union High School on Tuesday away at Redondo. Averch said that the team is planning for a strong and intense weak of practice in hope that they are going to be able to break their losing streak next week against the Seahawks.
“It is very unfortunate that we haven’t been able to find a strong and consistent rhythm this season,” Averch said. “However we are hoping that with a few solid practices this week we will be able bounce back and finally end our losing streak.”
