Mira Costa’s boys varsity tennis team defeated Redondo High School on Tuesday in an away game. The top performers were doubles pair junior Shant Samuelian and freshman Tim Dzhurinskiy and other doubles pair sophomore Alex Fry and sophomore Kyle Sillman.
Costa beat Redondo with help from their doubles pairs. Samuelian and Dzhurinskiy won all three of their matches with the scores of 6-1, 6-3, and 6-0 and Fry and Sillman won their three as well. In singles, Evan Fortier won two out of his three games.
“We competed hard in all the sets and all the matches were pretty close and I thought we did a good job pulling out the close games,” Costa Coach Joe Ciasulli said.
The Mustangs, 10-2 overall and 3-1 in Bay League, will next play Palos Verdes High School away on April 18. According to Ciasulli, the team is going to be going on spring break so it will be difficult for them to improve their game.
“Our team should be fine if we continue to work hard in every match and not make too many mistakes,” sophomore Matthew Poh said.
