Costa started the game of strong, ending the second round 7-3. In singles, Fortier beat the number one player 6-2 and the number three player 6-1. Poh beat the number two and three players and in doubles, Fry and Sillman defeated the number one player.

“Starting strong was key because it got super close in the third round, so we needed a strong start to secure the win,” Fortier said.

The Mustangs, 11-2 overall and 4-1 in Bay League, will next play Dos Pueblos High School in an away on Friday. According to Fortier, the team needs to continue its high quality level to do well in this match.

“This will be an interesting match because in the past we have done very well against this team but recently they have acquired a few good freshman in their lineup,” Fortier said.
