Season 7 began with Negan (Jeffrey Morgan) brutally murdering beloved main characters in an attempt to show Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group that they are now under the Saviors rule. The season then leads into the characters’ slow acceptance of the need for rebellion, building violence against the Saviors and an ongoing search for weapons and alliances.
“The Walking Dead” is based off a popular comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and debuted its first season in 2010. The director of “The Walking Dead” is David Boyd and the head writer is Scott Gimple.

The acting in Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” is delivered expertly, with an impressive performance by Morgan featuring dry humor and emotional acting when needed. The main characters perform lines so well that it makes the viewer feel deeply for the characters.
The special effects in Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” are a mixed bag, with the makeup and prosthetics used for the “walkers” being extremely realistic, but also featuring atrocious computer generated images. A tiger featured throughout the season was made with CGI’s and was very unrealistic, which took away from the series as a whole.
Season 7 was terribly written with an action-packed beginning that led into a poor management of many story arcs that led nowhere. This season built suspense for an attack against Negan, but disappointedly never delivered. Viewers are left feeling like the entire season is filler.
The season was very un-original and followed the same circular plot of previous seasons where the characters gain land and have to fight a villain for it, making the show seem very monotonous. The directors chose to replace a well developed plot for violence, which paralleled the mistakes made in previous seasons.
“The Walking Dead” was directed terribly with an overall crudely thrown together season that had too many story arcs. The director made a dutiful attempt to get the most out of his actors, but could not save the poorly written.
Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” started off strong, but overall was monotonous and carried out terribly with too many story arcs causing little progress in each episode. Compared to past seasons, this season fails to succeed with a lack of character development and no closure to the Savior threat to the survivors.
