Despite Lil Uzi Vert’s impressive performance and engagement with the crowd, it did not carry his late appearance and absence mid-performance.
Although Lil Uzi Vert arrived late to the stage, an off-brand DJ carried the beginning, playing songs such as Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d city” which electrified the crowd. However, when Uzi came, his performance excited crowds with its bumping bass rhythms, vibrant background lights and ecstatic mosh pits.
Rapper Lil Uzi Vert performed in Coachella’s Sahara tent at 4:30 on Sunday evening. He played a plethora of his most famous songs such as “Money Longer”, “You Was Right”, and “Erase Your Social.”
The most impressive aspect of the performance was the special effects such as the complex array of lights throughout the entire Sahara Tent. The moving lights and the dropping of ping pong balls captivated audiences throughout the performance.

After Uzi arrived to the stage ten minutes late, the crowd’s discontent was soon forgotten when he performed “Money Longer” as the opening song. Following the opening, the booming bass and chanting of song lyrics led to mosh pits throughout the crowd, enthralling audiences.

Lil Uzi brought out fellow performer, rapper A$ap Rocky, which only fueled the hype of the crowd. However, after performing their popular song “New Level,” A$ap soon left, disappointing the crowd, leaving them underwhelmed.
Besides A$ap’s brief appearance, in the middle of the performance, Lil Uzi also seemed to disappear for around fifteen minutes. To many it had seemed he just left the crowd to the DJ. However he was actually talking to the crowd as well as crowd surfing, creating an interactive experience for the front row guests.
Although Uzi’s absence was appreciated by many in the front, it was incredibly disappointing to those unable to see him. However, the DJ compensated for his absence by continuing to play Uzi’s songs with amplified bass.

In addition, Uzi’s popularity resulted in thousands of people fighting to get a glimpse at him. Without an elevated area, people were forced to constantly stand on their tippy toes just to see the telescreen. This also caused the performance to feel claustrophobic and crammed as tons of sweaty people rubbed up against each other like packed sardines.
Overall, Lil Uzi Vert’s thrilling performance and captivating display of lighting did live up to the hype despite his lateness and absence mid-performance.
