The wildly popular series of Harry Potter movies is coming to an end as “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1”, the second to last movie of the series, was released on Nov. 19. Millions of fans of the Harry Potter films have been waiting for years to see the first part of the conclusion and this movie did not disappoint.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1” follows the plot and details of the book very well. Each movie in the series is better than its predecessor, and the latest installment is no exception.
Harry Potter started out as a series of seven fantasy novels by English author J.K. Rowling. The first book was published in 1997. The series is about an adolescent wizard named Harry Potter who goes through many life-threatening confrontations with Lord Voldemort, who tried to kill Harry when he was a child but did not succeed.
The seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is being split into two movies because of the length of the book and the desire to make it true to the novel as possible. The splitting of the last novel into two movies was a great idea; it allowed the novel to be followed almost perfectly. The disappointment of the fifth Harry Potter movie was not duplicated in this recent film. The reason the fifth film was not great was because it changed and skipped parts of the novel to fit a two-hour movie. The director learned from this mistake and produced a much better movie this time.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1” is so far the best film in the series. The special effects were so great they seemed real-life. For example, when the wizards apparated, it seemed as if it could happen in real life because the effect was so wonderfully done. The digital elves were also the most life-like versions of the mystical beings the movie series has seen so far.
This movie was overall great but a lot of the scenes in the woods could have been cut out. The film spends a lot of time following Harry and Hermione’s journey through the woods when nothing interesting is happening. To make the film shorter, it would have been better to eliminate these scenes so the viewers would not get impatient.
The actors in this movie have matured and grown throughout the series. Their acting abilities have also improved, which makes this latest release one of the best. The actors receive much praise for this film.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1” is definitely worth its price. It can be seen in many theaters worldwide (rated pg-13).
