Costa athletics lose ten of their best athletes on April 20th when they committed to play sports in college.
The ten Costa athletes played sports ranging from cross country to rowing. They signed the National Collegiate Athletic Association Document on April 20th during lunch at the Mustang Mall, making their commitments to their respective universities official.
Senior Zach Saros was a kicker for the Mira Costa football team and is committed to Pacific University. One unforgettable moment for him was when Costa were able to hand Palos Verdes High School it’s first CIF defeat in 5 years. He chose Pacific because of its location and its academics. Senior Emily Eudy committed to Santa Clara University for softball. Eudy has accumulated multiple awards throughout her time at Costa, including All CIF and Daily Breeze All Area honors. She chose Santa Clara for its academics and surrounding atmosphere.
“I will remember most the friendships I made and the support I got from my teammates and coaches on and off the field,” Eudy said. “I chose Santa Clara because when I went to visit the school I loved the campus and surrounding atmosphere.

Senior Kelli Mark committed to Emerson College for lacrosse. Mark has been named second team all bay league and second team all region. Her decision to go to Emerson stemmed from its surrounding city and its academics. Senior Harrison Dulgarian committed to the University of Alabama for rugby. Dulgarian believes he will always remember the life long bonds he has made with coaches and friends at Costa. He chose Alabama in order to gain a different perspective from the South Bay.
“I was never really excited about college in the first place but out of all the schools I applied to Alabama appealed to me the most,” Dulgarian said. “I knew I wanted a different experience just to get a different view of the world and Alabama will definitely give me that.”
Other signees include Gaby Guerrero(Loyala Marymount University), Melia Chittenden(Princeton University), and Sierra Andrade(UC Santa Barbara) for Cross Country. Lauren Nielsen committed to UC Berkeley for Crew while Chloe Newton committed to the University of Washington for Volleyball. Aminadi Anorve committed to Marist College for water polo. She chose Marist because of its location and its academics.

“I wanted to go to a school out of state, and Marist was the best option academically and athletically,” Arnove said. “I will always remember Costa’s team spirit and awesome coaches.”
