Senior Ronald Clinton makes the most of his passions, finding a happy place whether it is on the field, in the lab or center-stage.
On campus, Clinton is the treasurer of the Black Scholars Union and a member of Costa’s Science Olympiad, Band and Crescendo Jazz, all of which have helped him achieve the success that he has today, he said.
“I couldn’t believe I was being nominated,” Clinton said. “I have wanted to be the Student of the Year since my freshman year, so being named a finalist was a big deal for me, especially since there were so many people who could easily have replaced me on the ballot.”

Off campus, Clinton spends his time as a participant in the Los Angeles County Junior Lifeguards, a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council and a referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization.
Clinton believes Costa has provided him with the tools he needs to succeed in school, specifically through college and career advice, which eventually helped him explore many opportunities for life after high school. The great diversity at Costa helped him become more experienced with different kinds of people, which has culminated in his own personal advancement, Clinton said.
“Mira Costa has provided me with everything I need to succeed in college and beyond,” Clinton said. “[The school] has given me countless opportunities to push myself and grow.”
After graduation, Clinton looks forward to pursuing biology at Stanford University, where he hopes to progress to medical school and eventually become a surgeon or biomedical researcher.
“Although I have had quite a few significant academic achievements, I am the most proud of my extracurricular achievements,” Clinton said. “I have devoted a considerable amount of time to my extracurricular activities and feel that my accomplishments have distinguished me as an individual.”
