Mira Costa’s boys varsity tennis defeated Redondo Union High School 12-6 on Monday in an home game. The top players were doubles pairs; sophomore Kyle Sillman and sophomore Alex Fry, junior Shant Samuelian and freshman Tim Dzhurinskiy, and sophomore Ethan Han and junior Ben Choromanski.

Costa’s doubles pairs lead the team to victory with big wins by each pair. Every doubles pair was able to defeat their opponents and win every single match that they played.

“What was done well was our discipline to finish off each set and not get distracted on anything other than the job at hand,” Fry said.

The Mustangs, 15-2 overall and 8-1 in Bay league, will next play Bay League Singles on Wednesday at Jack Kramer club in Palos Verdes. According to sophomore Matthew Poh, the team should perform well as long as we are all healthy and ready to play.

“It will be a fun way to test our skills in a very competitive setting because teams can only send a certain amount of people and everyone is super good so it will make for a great challenge,” junior Evan Fortier said.
