Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated Peninsula High School 12-1 in an away game on Saturday. A top performance from sophomore pitcher Christian Bodlovich helped Costa go into double digits during the game.

Costa captured the lead in the second inning and managed to keep Peninsula scoreless, until they tied 1-1 at the bottom of the third inning. In the sixth inning, the team came alive and scored ten runs. Bodlovich pitched for six innings and had five strikeouts.

“We played really well today,” Bodlovich said. “The energy in the beginning of the game was lacking a bit but we really picked it up in the later innings to jump out to a big lead.”

The Mustangs, now 16-7 overall will play Redondo High School on Wednesday May 10th. The team needs to improve on intensity and focus throughout the game, according to sophomore second baseman Dylan Dennis.

“For Redondo I think we are just going to have to sustain a constant energy level,” Dennis said.  “We will have a great week of practice leading up to the games to prepare.”
