Mira Costa’s baseball team shut out rival Redondo Union 6-0 in an away game on Tuesday. Top performance from sophomore pitcher Christian Bodlovich kept Redondo scoreless for seven innings.
Costa maintained a steady lead during the game with the score 2-0 at the bottom of the second. However, during the fifth inning, Costa scored three consecutive runs. Bodlovich pitched for six innings, allowing only four hits and was responsible for six strikeouts.
“It was a good game all around,” junior pitcher Jesse Storey said. “The offense took advantage of their mistakes and we played lockdown defense.”
The Mustangs, now 17-7 overall, will play Redondo Union at home on Thursday. This is their last game before going into CIF next week Bodlovich said.
“We need to play like we did today and really grind out a win for the team,” said Bodlovich.
