Hogan Webb: authoritative, but nice

Executive Features Editor Hogan Webb leaves the room one last time for a "doctors appointment" after instructing assistants Elena Coe-McNamara and Megan Sullivan what to do to finish their creative page, which he, of course, came up with.

“LA VITSA.” Yes, I know it’s misspelled, but it perfectly embodies our dysfunctional family.

Although my position in La Vista this past year has been Executive Features Editor, a title I primarily used to convince underclassmen to do my work, my greatest contribution to this

program was easily choreographing and coordinating our staff to compete in this years Lip Sync Contest. We took the stage by storm, cycling through the same five dance moves the entire performance, soon leading up to the grand finally. Savagely ripping off our tank tops to expose our painted chests, we struck a final pose only to reveal we had lined up in the wrong order, spelling “LA VITSA.” While we may have been arguably the most disastrous performance of the night, we all left the auditorium smiling ear to ear.

Forget story conferences, editing articles, page edits, and the publication we release each month, it’s moments like this that make La Vista, La Vista.

The truth about La Vista is that it’s about so much more than producing a paper; It’s about being a part of a community of incredibly bright, funny, creative, and fun loving students on campus who you look forward to seeing each and every day. It’s about having a room on campus where you can truly unwind, be yourself, and where you’re confident everyone has your best intentions in mind.

Whether it was playing handball and hurdling trash cans during production, “watering” the campus plants late at night because the bathrooms were locked(for the rare nights I stayed past 9pm), constantly blackmailing the Editor In Chief’s to put my pages on the “Wall of Fame,”(Delaney was always the push over), or somehow always finding a way to get others to do my work(thanks Elena), I’ll never forget the memories I’ve made with my “LA VITSA” family.
