Mira Costa’s 2017 All Awards Assembly was held in the auditorium today, in order to honor students with academic and athletic awards, including awards from various departments and the Student of the Year award.
Senior Audrey Phan won the Student of the Year Award. Costa administration and staff gave out additional awards such as the Associated Student Body Service Award and awards from each department. Seniors Elizabeth Chittenden and Shante Robinson received the Outstanding Female Athlete Award and senior Caleb Llorin won the Outstanding Male Athlete Award.
“What this really is a thank you to students, a job well done,” Mira Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale said. “Thank you for your time at Costa and making this a great place to grow and continue to get better at.”
Juniors Keeley Parker, Riley Douglas, Lauren Schlick, Jennifer Miao, Ray Kim, Jillian Reed, Katherine Elias, and Keeli Hanley won University and Book awards. Teachers Bill Fauver, Aaron Kofahl and Gleen Marx received the Sandarce Teachers of the Year award.
“This is one of the great days of Costa, because we get to celebrate the great students that make our jobs worthwhile and one day change the world,” Mira Costa English teacher Cameron Chow said. “We are able to honor those who have made such a great impact these past four years.”
