The event was advertised on the city’s website and Facebook. The event is all over social media including Snapchat. Snapchat even added it’s own “La La Land Day” geo tag. The stage had a very “La La Land vibe” to it with the lights from the movie in front. The stage was also wrapped in a custom La La Land banner. Crowds of people enjoy the award winning music of the film. The movie won many academy awards which included Best Original Music Score. The official ceremony begins with a speech by Mayor Justin Massey. Followed by musicians from the film who performed songs from the movie, including “City of Stars,” live on the Plaza. The event is free and open to the public. The whole pier was packed with fans of the film along with South Bay citizens. Fans stroll along the path of La La Land star Ryan Gosling’s sunset walk down the pier. This is where he introduced for the first time the Oscar winning Best Original Song “City of Stars.” The posts are 15 feet high about and a few inches in diameter. The classic lamp posts from the film stretched from the begging of the pier till the end lighting up the night. These classic green lamps have a similar look to the La La Land ones. The permanent green lamp posts are located along Pier Ave. The beautiful Hermosa Night made the event even more enjoyable. The beautiful lights captivated many visitors.
