The Mustangs wrestling team traveled to Long Beach Polytechnic High School on Dec. 11 for the Asics Jackrabbit Invitational. The Mustangs battled against twenty-four high schools including North Torrance, Torrance, Long Beach Poly, Downey, Norwalk, Redondo, and Carson. The Mustangs finished at the bottom of the list.
Senior Joey Beck finished second in his weight class of 135 pounds fighting hard in every match. Senior Justin Tam finished fifth in the 152 pound weight class and senior Weston Carico was awarded seventh place in his weight class of 145 pounds.
The Mustangs will look for a strong, redeeming performance on Dec. 18 when they compete in the Carson Duel.
In all fairness, less than half of the line-up was at the tournament and I was told that they still managed thirteenth place.
