Deadmau5 was a high school dropout, so its no surprise that his newest album “4×4=12” features a failed math equation. However, this progressive electronica musician does not fail in his music.
Starting off with the mellow beginning of “Some Chords,” Deadmau5 quickly transitions to what he does best: make you want to dance. Songs such as “A City in Florida,” “Cthulu Sleeps,” and “Right this Second,” are abundant in strong bass and constant foreground beats, which only add to that urge to dance.
Deadmau5 strongly experimented on this album. Tracks such as “Sofi Needs a Ladder,” Raise Your Weapon,” and “One Trick Pony,” all include lyrics, with the latter two being of the popular techno sub-genre dubstep, a territory previously unexplored by Zimmerman.
“4×4=12” is available at record stores and on iTunes, with a deluxe version that includes videos of live concerts.
