During the board meeting last month, people learn about the new aspects of the website. The website's details had been discussed for a long time before the meeting.

The MBX Foundation, an organization that provides financial support for physical education and athletic programs in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, will implement new changes to its website before the 2017-18 school year, which includes the creation of a new payment system.

According to MBX Executive Director Jennifer Williams, the City of Manhattan Beach has used the new system, Active Network, which will allow parents to easily access resources. MBX processes and manages payments and disseminates information and news for Mira Costa’s 39 booster clubs, Williams said.

“Over the past few years, it became clear that [MBX] needed a system that was more reliable, was secure, had greater reporting capabilities and made it easier to add new payment buttons faster and with less labor cost,”  Williams said.

The website will include more graphics and will feature a system that makes giving donations, paying for items, and booster clubs, and registering for classes and events more accessible, Williams said.

“While we were looking into solutions for a new payment system, some of our booster clubs had also indicated a need for help with developing their own websites,” Williams said. “Their requests indicated there was a need for the community to have a central resource for basic information and news on Mira Costa’s extra-curricular activities and sports.”

Active Network requires parents to create an account, which allows them to see which payments they have made and when they made them. After making a payment, parents will immediately receive receipts indicating they have made a tax-deductible donation.

“Making information more visible on a website is always helpful because sometimes I, can’t always find what I need,” Mira Costa parent Mitch Ozawa said. “I hope the website will be a lot easier to navigate because that would help me out a lot.”

The updated design will include information regarding each booster club along with direct links to each of their websites.

“I think this will really help Mira Costa gain more funds because it will be a lot easier to make payments and find out information,” Ozawa said. “Hopefully other parents will also see these new aspects.”

According to Williams, the system has some flaws, including the processing fee of each payment being over one percent higher than the old system and parents not knowing how to navigate.

“After looking at the benefits of this system, including a redesigned website, versus the cost and capabilities of alternative solutions, we believe [Active Network] was the best choice,” Williams said.

    knew of any forums that cover the same topics talked about here?
    I’d really like to be a part of online community
    where I can get feed-back from other knowledgeable
    people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please
    let me know. Thanks!
