1) Eric Fonoimoana seen playing volleyball at 3rd street beach in Manhattan Beach before a private lesson on Monday. Fonoimoana was a gold medalist in the 2000 Sydney Olympics for the two man beach volleyball.
2) Fonoimoana coaches two of his private students. Private coaching is a job he keeps up along with coaching the Mira Costa Girls Volleyball team.
3) Fonoimoana runs a triangle drill where he throws the ball to one girl who hits it to the other girl who hits it back to Fonoimoana. He’s also the CEO of a non-profit called “Dig for Kids” that helps kids in inner cities to excel in academics and volleyball.
4) Fonoimoana is using sand to determine wind direction. He taught his students to use this information to adjust where they set the ball.
5) Coach Fonoimoana demonstrates a proper low spike where the player doesn’t jump. Its important that the ball has the right spin so that it curves downward faster.
