Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Los Alamitos 13-5 at Los Alamitos on Wednesday. Leading performance from sophomore Olga Nagy who played two singles and continued undefeated to help Costa capture a win.
The girls started the match with positive results. Nagy won 7-5 in her first match and 6-4 in the second along with sophomore Audrey Vo who won two sets 6-1 and 6-0, respectively. It was important that their attitudes remained positive, said Nagy.
“As a team I feel that we were particularly united today and all worked really hard,” Nagy said. “We supported each other to achieve our common goal- winning. It was a really exciting day full of cheers and laughter.”
Costa, now 2-0 overall, will be traveling to northern California to compete in the Golden State Classic at Stanford University. Considering the tennis team leaves tomorrow they will not be working on any shots before the tournament, said Nagy.
“I feel that the team could improve at the net and finishing points with volleys,” Nagy said. “Also working on overheads which seems to be a weakness with most girls in this sport.”
