Mira Costa boys beach volleyball lost to the Palisades 2-1 and West Torrance forfeited due to a lack of players on September 9 at Dockweiler Beach.

Senior Max Cajuste and sophomore Jack Walmer battled against the Palisades and won the first set 21-17, but unfortunately lost the second and third, 21-11 and 15-13. Cajuste and Walmer both complimented each other well due to Cajuste’s amazing sets and Walmers’s insane hits as well as blocks.

“We had a strong start and we were siding out very well but then as the game grew closer they started to find a rhythm and forced a third set,” Walmer said.

The Mustangs overall record is now 6-3 and Coach Avery believes that their success so far was from all of the hard work put in. Costa will face off against Palos Verdes and Redondo next week on September 16 at Dockweiler Beach.

“A big key for us was how ready the boys were to play beach early this season. A large number of our guys were playing a lot this summer and competing in challenging tournaments, so they were in pretty good playing shape and had their beach skills ready from the start,” Coach Avery said.
