Mira Costa’s boys water polo team fell to Mater Dei High School 10-3 on Tuesday in a home game with a top performance by junior attacker Troy Gleason.
The Mustangs struggled offensively early in the game, and were turning over the ball frequently according to senior attacker Alex Nahabed. Costa’s passes were timed poorly and off target which caused turnovers.
“We started off the game very poorly,” Nahabed said. “We turned the ball over too much which led to opposition scoring chances and goals”
Costa, now 0-1 overall, will look to rebound back against Palos Verdes in their first Bay League game on Wednesday. According to Nahabed, Costa needs to work on their passing.
“To be successful, we need to work on our ball movement and make hard accurate throws,” Nahabed said.
