The Mira Costa girls tennis team defeated Chadwick 18-0 at home on Thursday. A leading performance from freshman Kacey Feng and sophomore Olga Nagy, helped Costa capture a win.
In singles, Feng won one set 6-2 and Nagy won two sets 6-2 and 6-0. Doubles sophomore players Kiki Daviduk and Peyton Douglas were undefeated, winning three sets 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1.
“At first it took me awhile to get used to my opponent because she hit a lot different than I’m used to,” Feng said. “After I figured it out it was a great set. Today was the first time that varsity won all of our matches which is great.”
The Mustangs, now 4-2 overall, will play Santa Monica at home on September 19. The team can improve on closing out matches and poaching more at the net according to Daviduk.
“As a team we need to work on playing well and being consistent,” Daviduk said. “I know I can definitely work to improve upon my consistency while playing. We want to work towards continuing undefeated.”
