Mira Costa’s girls tennis team fell 14-4 to Peninsula on Wednesday at home. The top performers included sophomore Olga Nagy and freshman Kacey Feng who battled consistently throughout the match.
Doubles player Nagy went undefeated in her matches today. However they struggled to keep a lead against Peninsula said Nagy. Costa did not pull out as many matches as they could have according to Nagy. Costa won four sets and lost two in close tie breakers.
“Peninsula is a very strong team so we just played the best tennis we could and tried to get as many games as possible,” Nagy said. “It was a fun match because many girls on the Costa team have friends on the other team so it was amicable.”
The Mustangs, now 4-3 overall and 0-1 in Bay League, will play Palos Verdes next Tuesday September 26 in Palos Verdes. Next week the team will come out ready to play and get the win according to Feng.
“We played well today but we didn’t end up beating Peninsula,” Feng said. “That largely has to do with the fact that their team is just really good, but we can always be better in the future.”
