Mira Costa’s girls tennis team swept Beverly Hills High School 15-3 on Wednesday, coming back with a fire after their loss to Palos Verdes.

Costa received top performances from doubles powerhouse composed of freshman Kacey Feng and sophomore Olga Nagy. Also Costa senior Maya Serota won one set 6-2.

“We played really well in today’s match,” Nagy said. “Yesterday we were a bit down from our loss but we picked ourselves up today. We were just tired so after a good night’s rest we got our energy back up.”

Feng and Nagy carried the team, winning both of their matches 6-0. Sophomore duo Peyton Douglas and Lindsay Giese won their matches 6-0 and 6-1, helping Costa take a lead.

“Everyone did their best today against Beverly Hills,” Feng said. “In preparing for our tournament in Santa Barbara this weekend, if we keep playing well then the team will do pretty good.”

Holding up a good lead doubles players senior Elena Olsen and junior Bella Buchta won three matches going 6-3 in their first, 6-2 in the second, and 6-0 in the third with the Mustangs going undefeated.

“Costa played really well today and dominated on the court,” Olsen said.

The number one seeded singles player sophomore Audrey Vo added to the overall victory of the team, winning her first match 6-1. Sophomore player Kiki Daviduk went 6-2 in her first match and 7-5 in her second as well, racking up points for the Mustangs.

“We have played really well so far and won all of our matches today,” Daviduk said. “Yesterday’s team was a lot stronger so today we are just seeing what we did wrong and trying to fix that for better results.”

The Mustangs, now 5-3 overall and 0-2 in Bay League, will go on to play Inglewood at home on Thursday, but the results were unavailable at the time of publication. Costa will also compete against Dos Pueblos at Dos Pueblos on Friday.

“We want to continue being dominant at the net and hitting volleys,” Nagy said. “Also we definitely want to be attacking more and taking control of the point.”
