The Mira Costa girls basketball team suffered a loss on Dec. 31 in the annual West Coast Holiday Festival Tournament in Beverly Hills. The lady Mustangs won three of five games in the tournament, earning sixth place. Following the tournament, the team’s overall record stands at 9-5.
The lady Mustangs suffered a 34-48 loss to Canyon High School in their final game.
Senior Joelle Herron led the Mustangs with an average double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds throughout the tournament. In addition, senior Kylie Nakamine averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals per game.
The girls will tip off their next game against the Bishop Montgomery Knights on Jan. 6 in Torrance.
