Mira Costa’s girls golf team claimed another victory, continuing its three-win streak by defeating West Torrance 210-224 at Chester Washington Golf Course on Tuesday. The top performer was junior Klara Nagy who led the team and pulled out a win for Costa with the lowest score of 37.
Sophomore Shani Waite contributed to the win with a score of 40 and freshman Juliae Shoda and sophomore Erica Skinner both scored a 43 and senior Phoebe Gunn shot a 47, easily beating the Warriors by 14 strokes. Today’s was a great turn around for the team and we are proud that we started off this year’s Bay League with a win, said Waite.
“We had good scores throughout the match and continued to play through the bad shots,” Waite said. “We learned a valuable lesson yesterday and used those skills into today’s match. Overall, it was a great win for Costa and we will continue to take the W’s.”
The Mustangs are currently 1-0 in Bay League and 8-3 overall. The team will rematch against West Torrance High School at Chester Washington Golf Course on Thursday. The team is ready for the new Bay League season and is looking forward to competing against our rivals, said to Skinner.
“We had a few good scores today but we hope to make a better team score in future matches,” Skinner said. “We will continue to keep up the momentum as a team throughout the season.”
