Mira Costa’s girls tennis team routed West Torrance 17-1 at West Torrance High School on Wednesday. Sophomores Audrey Vo and Olga Nagy helped capture the win for the Mustangs.
In singles, Vo won two sets 6-3 and 6-0 in first position. In doubles Nagy and freshman Kacey Feng won one set 6-1 in first position. Feng and junior Kendall Lebbin won two sets 6-1 and 6-1. Junior Bella Buchta and senior Elena Olsen went undefeated in three sets, winning 6-3, 6-0, and 6-1.
“Today was definitely an easier match,” Nagy said. “We just worked on the shots we could improve on for tomorrow.”
The Mustangs, now 9-4 overall, will go on to play Palos Verdes High School in their final home match of the season. They will work hard to make Senior Day enjoyable but still competitive according to Feng.
“We played West Torrance at their courts which are not the best because it is really windy and noisy there,” Feng said. “It took a while to adjust to but I think our team beat them easily.”
