Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated South Torrance High School 13-5 at South Torrance High. Top players included sophomore Olga Nagy for serving up wins for her team.
Nagy and doubles partner freshman Kacey Feng won two sets 6-2 and 6-2 as first seed players. Senior Elena Olsen and junior Kendall Lebbin won two sets as well, 6-2 and 6-1. In singles sophomore Kiki Daviduk won two sets 6-2 and 6-2 and junior Bella Buchta won one set 6-0.
“I played in doubles with Olga,” Feng said. “ Even though it wasn’t the best competition we just worked on improving our game and adjusting to different balls and courts, since the courts there are a little off.”
The Mustangs, now 11-5 overall, will go on to play hometown rival Redondo Union High School next Monday Oct. 23 at Redondo. The team hopes to work on their game to get ready for Monday’s match according to Nagy.
‘Today’s match was a great experience,” Nagy said. “It helped to set us up to play Redondo next week.”
