Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Redondo Union High School 17-1 at Redondo Union on Wednesday. The Mustangs were led by singles player sophomore Olga Nagy after going undefeated in her sets.
Nagy won two sets 6-0 and 6-0 bringing in wins for the team. Freshman Kacey Feng won three sets 6-2, 6-1, and 6-1 and sophomore Sydney Miller won one set 6-4. In doubles sophomore Kiki Daviduk and senior Elena Olsen won three sets 6-0, 6-2, and 6-4.
“Today was a very special match, especially for me,” Nagy said. “It was really interesting to get to go to the hardest Bay League match in California and be apart of the top 16.”
The Mustangs, now 12-5 overall and 4-4 in Bay League, will move into CIF playoffs. Matches will be published when the brackets are released. Costa placed 3rd in Bay League.
“We definitely just want to prepare before we move into playoffs,” Nagy said.
