The Mira Costa Cross Country team competed in the Bay League Finals at the Peninsula Course on Thursday, November 2nd against Redondo, Palos Verdes, Peninsula and Morningside High School. Costa’s varsity boys team placed overall in the race along with the girls team receiving second overall.
Senior Xavier Court routed opponents by placing first in the race with a time of 16:11. Junior Cy Chittenden and senior Chris Shirazi placed third and fourth in the race with times of 16:29 and 16:31 as well. Junior Brooke Inouye, lead the girl’s varsity team with a time of 19:27 and placed third and juniors Olivia Hacohen and Lucy Atkinson placed fifth and sixth in the race with times of 19:45 and 19:56.
“Consistent running and the workouts that I have done contributed to my successful race and I will continue to apply the same philosophy moving forward into the races to come,” Court said.
The Mustangs will compete in the CIF Preliminaries at the Riverside Gold Course on Friday, November 10th. Costa is ready for the challenges ahead and excited for what’s to come according to sophomore Pnina Tofler.
“I am feeling very excited about going to CIF prelims especially because we have only one senior on our varsity team, so I feel like we have more to prove as a younger team,” Tofler said.
