Mira Costa’s Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Gardena High School Panthers at home, in their first preseason game by a score of 67-53. Costa’s offense rolled all game with numerous players scoring three point shots to help Costa elevate over the Panthers.
The Panthers scored in the paint in the first quarter, giving them a 19-13 lead going to the second. Costa picked up the pace in the second, with key players, Carson Carrey and Tyler Antrobius coming off the bench and draining threes to give Costa the lead. Costa held the lead for the rest of the game, dominating from deep, and ending the game with a final score of 67-53.
“It was great to get back on the court, especially with my team mates. We will bring it every night no matter who we got,” junior Carson Carrey said.
The Mustangs play again at home again on Wednesday, against Torrance High. The Mustangs are now 1-0 overall in preseason, and are looking for another win in his next game.
“We have to keep playing physical with these bigger teams, and hit good shots when we have them,” junior Parker Lynch said.
