Mira Costa’s Girls Water Polo defeated Peninsula High School on Monday, January 8 at home on their first week back from winter vacation by a score of 15-5. The top performer was Leigh Lyter with incredible offense throughout the whole game.

Lyter scored a total of seven out of their fifteen goals. Helping her with assists were Dylan Read, Ella Pachler and her sister Camille Lyter. Lyter was amazing with her offense, but also helped with defense by shutting down goals.

“We really came together to beat Peninsula,” Lyter said. “It was a combination of good communication, passing, and awareness that lead us to victory this last game.”

Costa’s girls play Santa Monica High School away on Wednesday, January 10 at 3 p.m. The Mustangs plan on bringing their game and winning again.

“We will have to stick as a team and have great communication along with overall teamwork to win against Santa Monica,” Telyn Kouwenhoven said.
