Mira Costa’s Girls Wrestling competed in the Lady Warrior Invitational at Torrance High School on Saturday, January 13 for their first varsity meet of the year. The top performer was senior Sasha Medvidovic who placed 1st in the 160 lbs weight division.
Medvidovic dominated in her weight division, competing in a total of 3 matches. While winning the first two with a pin and the other by points, she won her final match by injury default, when her opponent was injured and could not continue wrestling.
“I felt I wrestled really well, probably the best I ever have this season,” Medvidovic said. “The team wrestled well considering how tough the tournament was.”
Costa’s girls will participate at a dual tournament at Beverly Hills High School on Thursday, January 18 at 2 p.m. Until then, the girls plan to practice hard and develop set plans for matches, according to Medvidovic.
“I’m so proud of our girls who wrestled in varsity tournaments and won matches, it’s amazing,” Coach Chaney said. “We look forward to competing in the next tournament.”
