The film’s plot is both charming and gripping, as the viewer is constantly cheering the little bear on through his rollercoaster adventure to catch the thief and give his Aunt Lucy the perfect gift. The viewer is literally constantly on the edge of their seat, as the film has no shortage of tense and exciting moments.

The plot follows Paddington (Ben Whishaw), a British bear who must find the perfect birthday gift for his Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton). He finds the perfect gift, a picture book of London landmarks, but the book is stolen by Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant) when it is discovered to be a map to a large sum of treasure.

Paddington is wrongly accused of the crime and sent to prison, where he must learn to make friends in a very harsh environment. With the help of some of his prison mates and his human family, Paddington escapes in order to clear his name and catch the real thief.

The family-friendly nature of the story is refreshing in an age when so many movies contain such inappropriate subjects and end up being terrible influences on the impressionable youth of today’s world. It is a safe film for all ages, which lets everyone, including kids, see the film.

The subtle comedy in the film is really what makes it a great movie. Paddington and his pals are constantly cracking jokes that make the entire audience chuckle. These small jokes give relief from the stressful plot, and make the characters amicable.

In summary, Paddington 2 is quite simply one of the best movies of all time, and deserves to be held to the likes of classics that inspire cultures for generations to come.
