Mira Costa girl’s soccer team defeated West High School 3-1 at West High. A leading performance from junior Kayla Brunick kept the team firing on both sides of the field.

Costa secured their lead by scoring three goals against the opposing team. Two goals came from freshman Sydney Saypack and one by junior Ava Vant’hof. This was the first of a three-game suspension for three Costa soccer players.

“The team as a whole played as a unit all together,” junior Jojo Hoffman said. “We communicated well and played our best. If there were to be something to improve on for next game, we could finish more shots.”

The Mustangs, now 10-2 overall, will play Inglewood at Inglewood High School on Jan. 19. The team played well for the most part but there is much to improve before tomorrow’s game according to Brunick.

“I think we played very well for the most part,” Brunick said. “Though but there is a lot to improve on including our communication and movement off of the ball.”
