Mira Costa’s girls basketball team defeated Inglewood by a deficit of 45 points on Friday, Jan. 19 at home with a score of 77-32. The top performer included senior Kira Escovar who not only made her shots, but also got her teammates involved in the game.
Costa scored 36 points in only the first 8 minutes due to their executed plays and many offensive rebounds. The Mustangs did not let up either, and continued to play to their strengths and scored another 21 points in the second quarter.
“Our strengths laid in our teamwork, everyone got to score last night, but there are always ways to improve like defense and rebounding,” Escovar said.
Costa is now 10-9 overall and 3-1 in Bay League and will face the Redondo Seahawks on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd at Redondo High School. It will be a tough game and the Mustangs want to keep up their teamwork and make sure that they execute their plays according to Escovar.
“I really love being apart of this team because I get to play my favorite sport with an amazing group of girls and I am looking forward to getting more wins,” sophomore Alyssa Toyooka said.
