Senior Aaron Kissel is climbing to new heights with his latest winter adventures.

Over Winter Break, Kissel took his outdoor skills to Aspen, Colorado, where he competed in the Highland Bowl ski race. Kissel placed first in his age category out of about 40 other skiers.

“I am really proud of my performance in Aspen,” Kissel said. “All the training that I put in paid off and it was a really fun trip.”

On Jan. 20th, Kissel hit the mountains a second time, this time rock climbing in the Santa Monica Mountains. He climbed near Sandstone Massif where, according to Kissel, he climbed one of the sketchiest peaks in his career.

“I love rock climbing because it’s one of the most thrilling experiences I have had,” Kissel said. “It always try to push myself to accomplish bigger goals each trip.”

Kissel plans to ski and climb the Dufourspitze mountains in the Swiss and Italian border over Ski Week. He has plans to heli-ski and ice climb the summit of 4634 meters.

“I am really excited for my upcoming trip,” Kissel said. “It’s always fun taking my passions to the international level.”
