The Mira Costa boys soccer team defeated Redondo Union high school 1-0 on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at home. The top performers of the match included senior captain and goalkeeper Andrew Fasano with a shutout that strengthened Costa’s defense.
The Mustangs redeemed themselves with a victory against Redondo after their upset earlier in the season. Fasano and the Mustangs’ defense was a force to reckoned because of their amazing saves and clears out of the box.
“A weakness was not being able to put the ball away in easy goal scoring situations,” senior captain and midfielder Keyan Torabi said.
The Mustangs finished 15-4-2 overall and 8-2 in Bay League. The Mustangs will compete in the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs in the next few weeks.
“My favorite thing about playing for the program is being surrounded by all my friends,” Torabi said. “I have played alongside them for my four years of high school soccer and on club and just enjoying playing the game everyday.”
