Mira Costa Model United Nations will be attending the annual National High School Model United Nations conference from Feb. 27 to Mar. 4 in New York City.
A total of 40 Costa students will travel to New York City for NHSMUN to debate against approximately 340 schools from around the world. According to Senior Model UN Teacher Assistant Lyndsey Garret, students have been preparing for this conference since the beginning of January. According to Garret, NHSMUN is a conference where individual awards are not given out, but the best in the committee are asked to give a speech at the UN.
“It’s an amazing and once in a lifetime experience,” Garret said. “Of course our overall goal is best school, which we hope to get by completing our hardest!”
