The Mira Costa boys soccer team defeated Moorpark High School 3-0, at home, Feb. 16 in the first round of California Interscholastic Federation playoffs. Junior midfielder Josh Guadiano had an outstanding performance for his goal and assist.
The Mustangs’ offense was no match for Moorpark and Costa was able to convert three goals and maintain a clean sheet. Goals from Guadiano and seniors Cooper Arak and Robert Cook made Costa a prominent force for remainder of the match.
“Our offense played pretty well,” senior midfielder Will Zhou said. “We finished the chances that we created and overall the combination of our defense and offense lead to the nice 3-0 result.”
The Mustangs are currently 16-4-2 overall and head into the second round of the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs on Wednesday, Feb. 21 against the Cavaliers of Santiago High School.
“Defensively we were really compact and together as a unit,” Zhou said. “ We got the clean sheet we deserved.”
