The Mira Costa boys lacrosse team handily routed Culver City High School, 15-2, at Mira Costa High School on Mar. 6. The top performer of the game included junior attacker Connor Barnes for his four goals to support Costa’s strong offensive attack against Culver City.
Throughout the game, the Mustangs held a strong defense against the opposing team and executed their offensive plays to improve the score. Along with Barnes, junior attacker Josh Maruyama, senior Zach Horowitz, and junior Jacob Fernandez each scored numerous goals to finish the game with a 13 point deficit in Costa’s favor.
“We had a slow start to the game in the first half but in the second half we were able to kick into full speed,” sophomore Dane Weber said. “When we play with momentum we can be a really good team.”
The Mira Costa boys lacrosse team is now 2-1 overall and will next face off against Westlake High School on Mar. 7 at home.
“We have a lot of tough games coming up this week, so we definitely have to work on starting off fast in our games and gaining momentum,” Weber said.
