The Mira Costa boys tennis team defeated the Palm Desert Aztecs 16-2, at Palm Desert High School on Mar. 12. The top performers of the match included senior Evan Fortier because of the crucial points he added to the team’s victory.
In Fortier’s singles match, he defeated the number one seed on Palm Desert 6-3 and defeated the number two seed 6-0. Fortier later defeated the third-seeded player 6-2 and took home the win for him and his team.
“The number one seed was super tricky,” Fortier said. “He had a pretty unorthodox game with a ton of spin and got to almost every ball.”
The Mustangs are currently 4-0 overall and will play the Chadwick High School Dolphins at home on Mar. 14.
“Overall I think our team was a bit more experienced than them which led us to the win,” Fortier said.
