Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse team defeated El segundo High School 15-2 at home on March 9, 2018, with top performances from sophomore Cami Taub and junior Avery McCartney.
Mira Costa started out strong with two goals and maintained possession of the ball almost the entire game. Costa’s strong offense was accompanied by a solid defense, only letting up two goals the whole game due to the great saves by senior goalie Kallie Collet. According to Taub the team had a dominant offense and played very well.
“Even with a few players gone, I think the team worked very well together during the game and did a good job passing the ball and working for the goals we got.” Taub said.
The Mustangs are currently 7-1 including tournaments, 3-0 overall and will next face off at the LA-OC shootout in Laguna. According to Kristina Dirado the team has had strong offense and should do well in their upcoming tournament.
“I think that in our Friday game we all worked really well together in setting up plays and moving the ball around,” Dirado said. “ For the next game I’m confident that we will be able to continue keeping up our speed of play and keep on being strong offensively and defensively.”
