The Mira Costa boys tennis team swept Santa Monica High School 18-0, at home on Mar. 19. The Mustangs’ top performers of the match included doubles partners, sophomore Tim Dzhurinskiy and senior Shant Samuelian, for winning all of their sets.
Dzhurinskiy and Samuelian won their sets 6-3, 6-2, and 6-2. Doubles pairs, junior Ethan Han and senior Ben Chromanski, won their sets 6-3 and 6-0 and then doubles partners, junior Noah Gonolons and sophomore Trent Porter, won one set 6-2. Senior Evan Fortier won his singles matches 6-3 and 6-0 and junior Matthew Poh won swept his opponent winning both of his matches 6-0.
“The team was able to motivate each other really well throughout the match,” Porter said.
The Mustangs are currently 7-0 overall and will take on Peninsula High School at home on Mar. 20 and hope to stay committed to the common goal of winning every match, according to Porter.
“For the next match, the team should improve on keeping focused throughout the entire match,” Porter said.
