The Mira Costa boys volleyball team defeated Redondo Union High School 3-0 on Friday, March 23 on the Mustang’s home court. The top performer of the match included senior Max Cajuste who led the team with kills and put up a strong defense against the Seahawks.
The Mustangs swept the Seahawks in 3 sets with their strong offense that was set up by starting sophomore setter Jack Walmer. Not only were his sets a huge key to the game, the hitters executed well and had a high swinging percentage according to Coach Avery.
“Our offense was very strong and we were able to side out fast which didn’t allow Redondo to go on big runs,” Walmer said.
The Mustangs’ overall record is now 4-0, Bay League 2-0 and they are looking for another win against Palos Verdes on Tuesday, March 27 at Palos Verdes High School. Coach Avery and the team are excited for the upcoming games and for what’s to come.
“I think that our outsides were very efficient in the match and our passing allowed us to set up our ideal offense,” Coach Avery said.
