“Game Night” follows a puzzling plot, with clever humor and an amazing cast. The movie is extremely violent, action-packed and will soon be a classic in the comedy-action film genre.
The film is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, and stars Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams as married couple Max and Annie. Max and Annie are obsessed with trivia and game nights and compete routinely with friends Ryan (Billy Magnussen), Kevin (Lamorne Morris) and Michelle (Kylie Bunbury).
The movie begins with Brooks (Kyle Chandler), Max’s older brother who he envies, and comes to town and offers to host a game night. The night takes an unusual turn when out of nowhere, Brooks is stolen out of the house by men with masks, leaving Max, Annie, Ryan, Kevin and Michelle wondering and terrified if it was part of the game.
“Game Night” contains mind-blowing twists that blindside viewers and create suspense for what will happen next. The viewer never gets a direct clue at if the entire murder chase is part of the game or real until the end. The more the story unfolds, the more confusing and complex it becomes.
With breath-taking special effects, the dramatic action continuously improves throughout the film. Chase scenes, explosions, long and intense fight scenes and amazing cinematic shots all add to the spectacular effects.
The movie’s fabulous soundtrack perfectly sets up the scenes including “Feel it Still” by Portugal. The Man in Max and Annie’s game night success montage, or “We Are the Champions” by Queen in the last scenes. Each song adds its own spice to the mix as it is parallel to the type of scene it is played in.
The cast of “Game Night” keeps the movie afloat with its big names like Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, who play Max and Annie. Bateman and McAdams perfected the role and make the characters act like a loving, competitive couple at every game they play.
“Game Night” features an interesting plot that keeps the audience extremely focused. With intense violence and hysterical comedy, the powerful cinematography keeps the film easy to follow.
“Game Night” is rated R and is playing in theaters worldwide.
