The Mira Costa boys tennis team continued their perfect win streak by beating the Palos Verdes Sea Kings 10-8, on Mar. 27 at Palos Verdes High School. Doubles partners, senior Shant Samuelian and sophomore Tim Dzhurinskiy, had an outstanding performance with a win in all of their sets.
Samuelian and Dzhurinskiy defeated their opponents 6-2, 6-2, and 6-1. In the singles matches, junior Kyle Sillman won two sets 6-2 and 6-2, while junior Matthew Poh won two of his sets 6-3 and 6-0. Senior Evan Fortier two of his sets 6-3, 6-1 and then was able to defeat his final opponent in a strenuous tie-breaker, 7-6.
“My favorite part about being on the tennis team is being able to compete together,” Poh said.
The Mustangs are currently 11-0 overall and 5-0 in Bay League. The team will face up against Peninsula on Apr. 12 at Peninsula High School.
“I think our team needs to improve on not underestimating our opponents,” Poh said.
